Web + Wins #25: Content club & check those URLs
This Week's Update
We're trying something new next Wednesday. I have no idea who's going to show up, and how it’s going to go… so should be fun!
Jonathan Palance and I are hosting a Virtual Content Club on October 14th from 12:00–12:45pm.
Here's how it'll run: you hop on Zoom at lunch, we do a quick intro, then you'll rotate through three short one-on-one breakout rounds with a new partner each time. In each round, you share your 30-second elevator pitch and a marketing or content idea you've been sitting on — and your partner does the same. You get feedback and real conversation, all in 45 minutes.
This is for you if you've been staring at a blank Instagram caption, thinking about starting a YouTube channel but never getting it off the ground, or have a content idea living rent-free in your head that you haven't acted on yet.
We want to give people a chance to say the idea out loud, get some genuine feedback, and make a plan to actually do the thing.
Small business owners, side hustlers, marketers, creators, curious humans — all welcome. Your follower count doesn't matter. Your mindset does.
Sign up below and feel free to share this with someone who needs a nudge.
PS - messages & convos like this ⬇️ are why we are trying this out!
Get a Web Win: Check What's in Your Browser Tab
When I do website audits, this one comes up constantly on DIY sites. It's one of those things that's so easy to overlook because it doesn't affect how your site looks.
Open your website right now and look at the tab at the top of your browser. What does it say?
*Don't worry, I'm helping this awesome non-profit org fix theirs :)
If it says something like General 6, Page 1, Untitled, or just your business name on every single page — that's your sign to fix it this week.
That little tab is your SEO title — also called your page title or meta title. It's what shows up in Google search results, in the browser tab, and when someone shares your link. It's an important on-page SEO field, and one of the most commonly ignored.
While you're at it, check your URLs too. If your services page says /service-1 or /new-page-3 in the address bar, that's the same problem — a placeholder that never got updated.
Here's what it should look like:
Homepage: Web Designer for Small Businesses | Columbia, SC
Services page: Website Design Packages | Snaply Sites
About page: About | Snaply Sites
Each page should have a unique title that includes a relevant keyword and tells Google — and the person clicking — exactly what that page is about.
How to fix it in Squarespace: Go to each page → click the settings gear → look for SEO → update the SEO Title field. Takes about two minutes per page.
Small fix, real impact. Go check yours!
Convo Corner: Kathy Regganie
I met Kathy at Tara Morawski's Pitchy Women event a while back while I was working at the Boyd Innovation Center.
Kathy helps corporate teams and professional women reduce burnout through leadership training with her company, Energy Pathways. And right now she's co-launching something local to Columbia: the Speak Up Lab, alongside Kelly Wuest — a space for professional women to practice, refine, and strengthen their message in a low-stakes environment.
I love rooms like this. As entrepreneurs, we spend so much time in our heads. Getting to share your message out loud, in front of people, and get actual feedback is where real growth happens. No experience required, no big risk — just practice.
If you're in the Columbia area, check it out here. And if you're not local, search Eventbrite — I'd be willing to bet there's something similar near you this month worth showing up for.
Let's Talk!
Website questions, coffee chat, or just want to connect — I'm always happy to find some time.
